About Us

Sanjivani Hospital is run by Swami Vivekananda Medical Mission. Late shri. Wamanrao Samant, on the auspicious day of February 15, 1959, he started the aforesaid Sanjeevani on a small scale. He started Sanjivani Hospital by reducing some space in his shop. From the beginning, from 1959 to 1978, he also gave his family’s two buildings down for the operation of this hospital.

Due to the increase in the number of patients coming to the hospital day by day, the above mentioned area also started to decrease, that is why the organization itself bought land for the hospital. The first stone of this building was inaugurated in May 1978 by the then Prime Minister Morarjibhai Desai.

 Inauguration of the first floor (14400 sq. ft.) was held in 1982 in the presence of Shri Sharad Pawarji (the then Chief Minister of Maharashtra State) and then Hon. Mr. LK Advaniji ( member of loksabha) and the second floor was inaugurated in 2001 by Mr. Rambhau Naikji did it. This entire construction work was done without any kind of government subsidy, this work was done by Hon. Mr. wamanrao Samant completed it with a lot of cooperation from the people of the locality.Today the following major departments are functioning in this grand building for patient care.

Department of Cardiology, Stress Test, Sonography Department, Echo Cardiography, Chest and Chest Diseases, Psychiatry Department, Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Kidney Disease and Cancer Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Pediatrics, Ophthalmology, Ear Nose Throat, gynecological diseases, dental diseases, skin diseases Madhu meh neurology therapy, physical therapy etc. etc. G. X ray system, well equipped pathology blood bank, eye donation box.

Ayurveda treatment services are provided at short rates to the patients who come here. Free services are provided to economically patients. 21 residential medical officers with 75 specialists for incoming patients, Officers and 250 employees gives services.

Our Founder

Shri Wamanrao Samant, also known as Appa, a remarkable philanthropist and a beloved figure in his community. With unwavering dedication and tireless efforts, Appa Samantji has made a lasting impact on the lives of countless individuals.

Driven by his deep sense of empathy, Samantji established the Sanjivani Hospital on 15th of February 1959, which is set to celebrate its 100th anniversary on 12th June 2023. This monumental milestone serves as a testament to his unwavering commitment to providing healthcare to the needy. The hospital stands as a symbol of hope, offering medical assistance to those who would otherwise have limited access to quality care.

Appa Samantji’s motivation to open the hospital stemmed from his profound desire to uplift the underprivileged and improve their quality of life. He recognized the pressing need for accessible healthcare facilities, especially for marginalized communities.

Deeply devoted to his faith, Appa Samantji was a devout believer in Lord Vitthal. His spiritual inclination led him to Restoration of temple of Lord Vitthal into a grand structure. Throughout his life, he served in various positions of influence, including his role as the Vice-President of Zilla Panchayat Mandal and the Mumbai Divisional Panchayat Mandal

Samantji actively participated in numerous movements and initiatives that uplifted the community. During the Bharat Chhoro Andolan (Quit India Movement) of 1942, he selflessly sacrificed a year of his education to support the cause. In 1945, he joined a rural service workers’ camp at Mahatma Gandhi’s Sevagram Ashram, where his dedication to serving humanity was nurtured.Appa Samantji established a government-recognized Gita Library, which received the prestigious Ideal Library Award from the Governor of Maharashtra.

  • As the President of Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Palghar District, Appa Samantji supported destitute women and initiated the establishment of an ashram for children and old people. This initiative is now known as Mr. Janaki Ram Nyas and operates as a public trust.
  • Appa Samantji founded the Doordhwani Grahak Sangh to address the communication needs of the people of Virar.
  • He started the Swami Vivekananda Hospital in Arnala, providing essential healthcare services to the community.
  • In Kaner, Vasai Tehsil, Appa Samantji established the Sanjivani Gramin Arogya Seva Kendre, a rural healthcare center that serves approximately 20 to 25 underprivileged patients every day.

His legacy serves as a reminder that through compassion, dedication, and unwavering resolve, individuals can bring about positive change in their communities and touch the lives of countless people in need.
